The enter file to open and enter file to save dialogs enable to select a file to be opened or saved. The caption text parameter specifies the window title. If the title is not specified, a default title pursuant to the Windows system will be used. The files type name text parameter defines the descriptive text that will appear in the dialog in the file type names list. For several file types several lines of file type names can be entered.

The file mask text parameter defines the files to appear in the dialog. In the file mask definition the asterisk convention for designating files is used: the question mark ? replaces one arbitrary character, the asterisk * replaces an arbitrary character group. More masks can be entered, too, individual masks being separated by the semicolon character ;. For example, the *.doc;*.txt entry will display all text files of the DOC and TXT types. By entering the masks in multiple lines more file types can be defined. In the dialog this will be displayed as multiple lines in the file list.

The prepared file name text parameter determines the file folder, type and name, which will appear in the window. If nothing is entered, the current folder, no file name, and the first extension in the file mask list will be used.

The file being selected, the dialog will return the name of the selected file including the path as a text. On interrupting the dialog an empty text will be returned.
