The
visual range distance element defines the maximum distance in which objects are still visible. By limiting the visual range distance, thus subsequently reducing the number of objects displayed, the rendering speed (i.e. the 3D graphics painting speed) can be increased. At the same time, by diminishing the visual range distance the accuracy of the face intersection will be increased (the accuracy of the depth buffer will be increased). As a consequence, the visual range distance should be minimized. The visual range minimization is frequently combined with the
fog (distant objects vanishing in the fog or darkness), or the outlook may be restricted by the room walls. The default setting of the visual range is 100.
